We ride with up to 8 guests and 2 guides.
For the Galway/Clare/Burren trail ride the weight limit is 85kg / 185lbs and on our half day rides we accept riders up to 95kg / 210lbs.
For the week long Galway/Clare/Burren trail ride you have to be a safe rider in walk, trot and canter in the outdoors to join this ride, as we mix all three gaites daily. You have to be physically fit as we ride up to 6 hours in a day. But we do not jump.
On our shorter rides you can also join if you have no experience in trotting or cantering, as we can split up the groups according to the riding levels.
We use English all-round saddles with comfortable deep seats and good knee rolls, some saddles have D-rings to attach saddlebags.
Only a few western saddles are available – they have to be reserved at time of booking.
No, we have no gaited horses, you will have to post in the trot (rising trot). Many of our Irish Cobs are very comfortable though!

Yes we will lead our horses up and down a hill in the Burren National park on Friday on the Galway/Clare/Burren trail ride. The ground is loose gravel and can be tricky for a horse.
Any time during the ride you can ask your guide, and if there is a suitable track, you can get off to stretch your legs and lead your horse.
Yes that is the plan – this way you can get used to your horse and develop into a trusting team.
Yes each rider will get to catch their horse on the field, brush it down and tack it up - don’t worry there are always lots of helping hands around to show you all the details.
Irish weather can be very unpredictable. The temperatures are generally mild and typically freshened up by lots of wind.
- Riding helmet and gloves
- Paddock boots and half chaps (more comfortable than tall boots!)
- A waterproof coat/jacket and rain pants (no ponchos allowed!)
- Light sweaters for summer, warm sweaters for spring/autumn
- 2 or 3 pairs of riding pants
- Bum bag for holding sunglasses, water bottle, phone etc.. backpacks are uncomfortable for riding!
- You can bring your own saddle bag
- Seat saver can be very useful
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Painkillers, band-aids, sore muscle rub, personal medication
- 3-pronged adapter to charge your electrical gadgets
No there is only one ATM between all the villages where you will get to!
You are welcome to use the washing machine in the riding centre – but please mind we do not use a drier.
On the Galway/Clare/Burren trail ride, you can use the laundry facilities in the hotel on Thursday & Friday night.
Yes you can borrow a hair dryer in all the accommodations during the week.
We can cater for vegetarians as well as lactose or gluten intolerant requests. Please request this at time of booking.
All meals from arrival day's evening 3 course dinner to departure day's breakfast and daily lunch on riding days.
Yes, non riders can join any of the trips. They will have their accommodation, breakfast and dinner with the riders and can spend their day at their own leisure.
Non riders can enjoy sightseeing during the day (rent a car needed!), go golfing, fishing, cycling, hiking or just travel along in our backup vehicle to meet the riders at lunch time.
